Nomura matches program record in Men Soccer's 2-0 win over Florida Memorial

Box Score

McKENZIE, Tenn. -- No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer ran its winning streak to a season-high three games today with a 2-0 win over Florida Memorial at Wildcat Stadium on Bethel's (Tenn.) campus.

Franco Roman and Tauan Salgado each scored goals while Yuta Nomura produced his second shutout of the season and 26th of his career -- matching the all-time program record.

Roman gave the Blue Raiders (5-1) the 1-0 advantage in the 32nd minute off Billal Qsiyer's third assist of the season. Roman's goal -- his third of 2015 -- helped Lindsey Wilson to the 1-0 lead at the break.

The two teams remained at 1-0 in the physical contest -- 13 fouls and 12 cards -- until the 81st minute when Salgado doubled the Blue Raiders' lead. He netted his first goal of the season to give Lindsey Wilson the 2-0 lead.

Florida Memorial -- who is receiving votes in the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top-25 Poll -- ended the game out-shooting the Blue Raiders 11-8. Lindsey Wilson proved to be slightly more accurate on the afternoon, placing four shots on target compared to Florida Memorial's (3-2) three.

Nomura's clean sheet -- that included three saves -- extended his scoreless streak to nearly 236 minutes. He is now tied with Drew Burwash and Dean Wortz on the program's all-time shutout list.

Lindsey Wilson returns to McKenzie at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday, Sept. 13, as the Blue Raiders face host Bethel at Wildcat Stadium.
