Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team started the Lindsey Wilson Classic on Friday night as they hosted No. 8 Spring Arbor (Mich.), and played to a 2-2 draw against the Cougars.

Amanda Kander and Sanna Svensson each scored a goal in the second half for the Blue Raiders (2-0-2), while Johanna Henriksson made three saves, all coming in the second half.

Spring Arbor (4-1-1) dictated play throughout most of the first half, and finally broke the scoreless tie in the 29th minute after Nikki Bonnema was able to corral a loose ball in the box and knocked it in past Henriksson to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

The Cougars found the back of the net once more in the first half as Casandra Besteman gave Spring Arbor a 2-0 lead heading into the half.

Lindsey Wilson came out strong in the second as they flipped the field and grabbed the momentum in the early going as Kander put the Blue Raiders on the board in the 48th minute, after she kicked home the rebound off of an initial long pass from Lyana Perez.

The Blue Raider offense continued to push forward in the second half as S. Svensson blasted a shot from the top of the box off an assist from Emilia Jonsson in the 85th minute.

The Lindsey Wilson back line stood strong as Ivana Damnjonovic cleared a ball of the line to keep the game tied at 2-2. Neither team could break the tie late in the second half or in the two overtime periods as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

In the first game of the Lindsey Wilson Classic, No. 2 Northwestern Ohio defeated No. 5 Martin Methodist (Tenn.), 2-0.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Saturday night as they face No. 2 Northwestern Ohio in the final game of the Lindsey Wilson Classic at 7 p.m. CT. Live stats and live video will be available for the game.
