Six goal, five assist performance by Pahkasalo leads No. 6 Men's Soccer to 14-0 win at Pikeville

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The goals came early, late, and numerous times in between as the Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team cruised to a 14-0 win over Pikeville (Ky.) on the road at the Bob Amos Soccer Complex Tuesday night.

Aleksi Pahkasalo recorded a monster night with six goals and five assists, the five assists setting a new program record for a single game. The previous single game assist program record was set nearly 10 years ago, also against Pikeville. Pahkasalo was one point and one goal shy of matching the single game program records for points (18) and goals (7), also achieved in the Pikeville game nearly a decade ago.

When Pahkasalo was not scoring goals of his own, he was helping his teammates find the back of the net as both Anthony Tshimpi and Franco Roman both recorded their first career hat tricks, Pahkasalo assisting on four of the six goals scored between the pair.

Tauan Salgado and Serge Gomis accounted for the final two goals of the evening for the Blue Raiders (9-1-0, 2-0-0 MSC) with Jordan Hall and Mathias Thomsen each finishing with an assist.

By night's end, the Blue Raiders had unleashed 43 shots including 24 on goal compared to just four shots by the Bears. Goalkeeper Yuta Nomura was forced into action making just one save on the night en route to his fifth shutout of the season and the Blue Raiders' seventh-straight victory.

Pikeville's (1-5-0, 0-3-0 MSC) Tait Torstensen and Tyler Holland each played a half in goal, each allowing seven goals while combining for 10 saves.

The 14 goal output is a season-high for Lindsey Wilson and the most in a single game since scoring 15 against Pikeville back in 2008.

The Blue Raiders remain on the road for their next match, when they head north to No. 1-ranked Rio Grande (Ohio) on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT.
