Women's Soccer advances to MSC Tournament Semifinals with 7-1 victory over Pikeville on Thursday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team defeated Pikeville (Ky.) on Thursday 7-1 in the MSC Tournament Quarterfinals at Warren East High School.

Yvonne Ploeg scored three times for the top-seeded Blue Raiders (13-3-0) who outshot the Bears (7-12-0) 26-2 including a 16-2 edge in shots on goal. Lyana Perez scored twice and Ivana Damnjanovic and Delfina Santellan each scored a goal.

Perez got Lindsey Wilson on the board first in the 11th minute with Santellan picking up the assist. Pikeville answered back in the 13th minute on a Bibian Borst goal to tie things up at 1-1. Santellan gave the Blue Raiders the lead again in the 16th minute when she snuck one past the Pikeville goalkeeper, Perez picked up the assist on the goal.

Lindsey Wilson scored twice more in the half, Ploeg scored her first goal of the match in the 17th minute and Damnjanovic scored the last Blue Raider first half goal in the 26th minute.

Perez got the scoring started in the second half in the 73rd minute off a ball from Ploeg. Ploeg scored her second goal of the day in the 88th minute with Ylberina Sylkaj getting the assist. Ploeg scored again in the closing seconds for her third goal.

The Blue Raiders will play the winner of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and Shawnee State (Ohio) matchup on Nov. 10 at Warren East High School at Noon CT in the MSC Tournament Semifinals.
