Campbellsville erases 23-point deficit to come from behind and beat Men's Basketball, 73-59

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team dropped their third-straight game as they lost to Campbellsville (Ky.) on Thursday night, 73-59.

DJ Lambert led the Blue Raiders (15-11, 5-8 Mid-South Conference) with 12 points off the bench and he was 3-for-4 from behind the arc. Lambert was the only player for Lindsey Wilson to reach double figures. Sekou Harris led all scorers in the game with 25 points for the Tigers (19-9, 6-8 MSC), all of which came in the second half.

The Tigers came out strong to start the game as the scored the first five points of the game to take the early 5-0 lead. Lindsey Wilson countered with a 10-0 run to grab a 10-5 lead with 15:32 left in the first half.

The Blue Raiders continued to expand their lead as they took their first double-digit lead of the game with 11:38 to play in the half after Lambert knocked down a three-pointer to give Lindsey Wilson a 19-9 lead.

Lindsey Wilson continued to execute on the offensive end as stretched their lead to 17 points at the 9:51 mark after another three from Lambert to make it a 27-10 game in favor of the Blue Raiders. After Lambert was fouled while making his third three-pointer of the half, he hit the free throw to give Lindsey Wilson their largest lead of the half at 38-20 with 3:35 to play in the first half.

Neither team scored in the final 3:35 of the half as the Blue Raiders took a 38-20 into the locker room at the half.

In the first half, Lindsey Wilson shot 48.3 percent from the field, while going 7-for-16 from behind the arc. Campbellsville shot 34.6 percent in the first half and were 0-of- 3 from three-point land.

Dmitry Utolin put an end to the scoreless drought for Lindsey Wilson just 50 seconds into the second half after he hit a three to give the Blue Raiders a 41-20 lead.

After the Blue Raiders scored the first five points of the second half, the Tigers put an end to the run with a bucket at the 17:46 mark of the half. The basket from Campbellsville also ended their 6:48 scoreless drought, which went back to the 4:34 mark of the first half.

With Lindsey Wilson leading 45-24 with 16:36 left in regulation, the Tigers countered with 14-4 run to pull within 11 points with 12:03 left in the game. Campbellsville continued to keep the game within reach as they made it a 54-45 game with 9:28 left in second half.

The Tigers made a run through middle part of half as they trimmed their deficit to two points at the 7:53 mark of the second half. Campbellsville hit a three to cap off a 10-0 run and take their first lead of the second half at 55-54 with 7:05 to play in regulation.

After the Tigers extended their lead to three points, the Blue Raiders put an end to their scoreless drought with a basket from Hannes Erhardt with 4:56 left on the clock. Campbellsville extended their lead to 67-59 with 1:29 left in the game and the Tigers made their final four free throws of the game to beat Lindsey Wilson, 73-59.

Over the last 18 minutes of the game, Campbellsville went on a 53-16 run.

In the second half, the Tigers outscored the Blue Raiders 53-21, while the Tigers finished the game shooting 52.9 percent for the game after they shot 72 percent in the second half and they made 5-of-8 three pointers in the second half to finish the game shooting 45.5 percent from beyond the arc. Lindsey Wilson shot 30 percent in the second half to end the game shooting 39 percent from the field.

The Blue Raiders close out their regular season road slate on Saturday as they face St. Catharine (Ky.) at 3 p.m. CT in St. Catharine, Ky.
