Men's Golf falls just short, ends in second place at MSC Fall Tournament

MT. JULIET, Tenn. -- Lindsey Wilson men's golf shot a tournament-low round 276, but came up just short as the Blue Raiders finished one stroke off the winning score today at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament at the Windtree Golf Club.

The Blue Raiders shot a season-low, 8-under par 276 today to end the tournament with a two-day total 568 (292-276). The 276 is the fifth best team round in the program's history.

After entering today's final round in fourth place and 11 strokes off leader Cumberlands' opening-round 281, the Blue Raiders carded a pair of sub-par rounds and two rounds of even-par 71 to make its run at the leader.

Ryan Nowe provided a 5-under par 66 today over the 6,500-yard, par-71 Windtree layout to lead Lindsey Wilson. He carded six birdies and just one bogey during the nearly perfect round to jump from ninth after yesterday's round into a tie for third following today's play. Nowe concluded the tournament with a 4-under par 138 (66-72).

Alex Durham chimed in with the other sub-par round for the Blue Raiders. After seven holes, Durham was 1-over par following a pair of bogeys and one birdie. He finished strong, posting four birdies over his final 11 holes. Durham took advantage of the par-5s during the tournament, recording a 4.38 scoring average on the par 5s. Durham climbed 14 spots over the final round to tie for sixth with an even-par 142 (74-68).

Rasmus Lind tied for sixth place with Durham. He shot a 142 (71-71) over the two rounds. Lind also finished strong in today's final round. He birdied four of his final eight holes to end the day at even par.

Federico Navarro joined Lind with an even-par round. He carded three birdies and three bogeys during the final round to tie for 16th in the tournament with a 146 (75-71). Kellen Wilson ended the event tied for 34th with a 150 (78-72) to complete the Blue Raider team. Steven McGowan, who competed as an individual, tied for 30th with a 149 (75-74).

Cumberlands captured the team title with a 1-under par 567 (281-286). Campbellsville (Ky.) finished third with a 570 (290-280) followed by Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) at 574 (293-281). Host Cumberland (Tenn.) was next with a 576 (290-286).

Freed-Hardeman's Easton Lavelle grabbed medalist honors with a 10-under par 132 (67-65). Campbellsville's James Higgins finished third with a 137 (66-71) followed by Nowe and Cumberlands' Ben Kendrick (66-72) at 138.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Oct. 10-11 during the Blue Raider Classic hosted at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson.
