No. 7 Football earns program's first shutout in 84-0 victory against Cincinnati Christian

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team (5-0) defeated Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) 84-0 on Saturday afternoon at Blue Raider Stadium.

The shutout victory was the first in program history as the Blue Raiders only allowed just 133 total yards to the first-year program Eagles (0-5). Lindsey Wilson's 44 passing yards allowed is a new program record. Lindsey Wilson also forced three turnovers in the game, all via fumbles. Nathan Cunningham led the Blue Raider defensive effort with 12 tackles, including three solo tackles and 2-1/2 tackles for loss on the day.

Jalen Sublett got the Blue Raiders on the board first with a five-yard touchdown run with 12 minutes and10 seconds left in the first quarter. Dylan Beasley connected with Tyler Williams for a 29-yard touchdown with 2:45 left in the first quarter that put the Blue Raiders up 14-0. Jayven Jones scored another first quarter touchdown for Lindsey Wilson with a 14-yard run with 1:56 left.

Beasley threw his second touchdown of the half when he found Charles Gaines for eight yards with 13:19 left in the half to give the Blue Raiders a 28-0 lead. Blake Ingleton increased the Lindsey Wilson lead to 35-0 with a nine-yard run with 10:13 left in the half. Beasley connected with Umar Tate for his third passing touchdown on a seven-yard pass with 3:44 remaining in the half for a 42-0 lead.

The Blue Raiders carried the strong offensive performance into the second half scoring 42 points. Lindsey Wilson attempted only five passes in the second half and ran the ball 27 times over the final 30 minutes of play.

Lindsey Wilson finished with 507 yards of offense with 345 of them coming on the ground, a new program record. The seven rushing touchdowns were also a program record. Beasley finished 13-of-20 for 141 yards and three touchdowns. Jones led the Blue Raiders in rushing with 168 yards and three touchdowns. Jailen Reed added 79 yards on 10 carries with a score as Tate and Payton Veraldi each added a rushing score.

Lindsey Wilson added a defensive score on a blocked punt while forcing eight punts from the Eagles.

Cincinnati Christian was led by TJ Jemison who ran for 61 yards on 16 attempts.

The Blue Raiders are back in action at home on Oct. 1 against Union (Ky.) for homecoming. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT at Blue Raider Stadium.
