Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team scored two goals in the final 16 minutes to take down Mid-South Conference rival and No. 22-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.), 2-0, Tuesday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
Yvonne Ploeg netted the game winner in the 74th minute when she headed an Ivana Damnjanovic corner kick to the near post. It is the 10th-career match-winning tally for Ploeg, which vaults her into a into a four-way tie for the sixth-most game-winning goals for Lindsey Wilson.
Ploeg's goal ended a string of near misses for Lindsey Wilson (5-3-0, 2-0-0 MSC), who enjoyed the lion's share of opportunities throughout the match. The Blue Raiders outshot the Tigers (8-3-0, 0-1-0 MSC) 24-2, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal.
Damnjanovic put the match away when she found the back of the net in the 88th minute. Veronica Kurtz-Martinez set up the play when she played the ball to Lyana Perez on the left wing. Perez then sent a cross into the 18-yard box that found Damnjanovic's boot.
Johanna Henriksson stopped one shot in her first solo shutout of the season – the senior's 28th-career clean sheet.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders improve to 22-0 against Campbellsville all-time.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Sept. 30 with a road contest against Cumberlands (Ky.) at 7 p.m. CT.
