GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team rode a dominant second quarter to an 85-56 victory over Georgetown (Ky.) on Thursday night at Davis-Reid Alumni Gymnasium.

With the victory, the Blue Raiders move to 18-0 overall, continuing to build upon the best start in program history, while remaining unbeaten in Mid-South Conference play at 6-0. Lindsey Wilson also extends its program-record consecutive-road victory streak to 18.

The loss drops Georgetown down to 5-14 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The Tigers have now dropped four of their last five contests.

After leading 19-11 following the opening 10 minutes of play, the Blue Raiders outscored the host Tigers 27-10 in the second quarter to take a 46-21 halftime lead. From there Lindsey Wilson was in complete control in the second half as the Blue Raiders took advantage of 24 Georgetown turnovers, the most by a Lindsey Wilson opponent this season. The Blue Raiders were opportunistic on the defensive end, coming away with 11 steals in the contest en route to their third-straight wire-to-wire MSC win.

Chanel Roberts, the reigning NAIA National Player of the Week, led the Blue Raiders with 17 points, 13 coming in the second half. Kayla Styles added 16 points, her 15th game this season in double figures. Kayla Richardson and Billie Hearn both went into double figures at 10 points. Hearn moved atop the program's all-time blocks list with a rejected shot tonight, giving her 98 total in her career.

The Blue Raiders had to shake off some early sluggishness in the opening quarter as Lindsey Wilson led by just four points with under a minute to play in the frame. But a quick 5-0 run in the final 37 seconds saw LWC take a 19-11 lead after the first 10 minutes of action. The Blue Raiders took advantage of back-to-back Tiger turnovers in that run. Part of the Blue Raider struggles came from ball security as Lindsey Wilson turned the ball over four times in the opening quarter.

That spurt at the end of the first quarter carried over in a big way to the second as the Lindsey Wilson defense zeroed in and began jumping all over the Tigers, forcing nine turnovers in the quarter. Those turnovers led to multiple fast-break layups for Lindsey Wilson as the offense flourished and outscored the Tigers 27-10 in the quarter.

Lindsey Wilson shot 58.1 percent from the field in the opening half compared to 30.8 percent by the Tigers. Georgetown committed 14 turnovers in the opening half while Lindsey Wilson had just seven.

Styles and Richardson each had 10 points at halftime.

Lindsey Wilson continued to control play in the second half as the Blue Raiders forced another 10 turnovers in the final 20 minutes of play. Georgetown was unable to put together strands of points as Lindsey Wilson outscored the Tigers 24-19 in the third quarter. Georgetown finally outscored the Blue Raiders in the fourth quarter 16-15.

Lindsey Wilson shot 54.8 percent from the field compared to 36.2 percent by Georgetown. The Blue Raiders racked up 11 steals on the evening while hitting 12-of-17 shots from the charity stripe.

Georgetown was led by Justus Martin with 14 points. The Tigers' leading scorer Shelby Beam was held scoreless in the opening half before scoring 12 in the final two quarters.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Saturday for a 1 p.m. CT tipoff at No. 6 Shawnee State (Ohio) on Saturday in the NAIA Network Game of the Week.
