Box Score GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Veronica Kurtz's first-half goal proved to be enough as No. 12 Lindsey Wilson women's soccer defeated host Georgetown (Ky.) tonight at Toyota Stadium.
Kurtz blasted a shot from 25 yards across the face of Georgetown goalkeeper Megan Martin and into the upper left corner of the goal to give the Blue Raiders the 1-0 lead in the 12th minute.
Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Eveljn Frigotto and the Blue Raider defense made the goal stand with the team's sixth shutout of the season.
Kurtz tallied her second goal of the season on the strike to help the Blue Raiders move to 4-3-3 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference. Georgetown falls to 5-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the MSC with the setback.
Lindsey Wilson -- who outshot the Tigers 15-4 -- produced other scoring opportunities in the match only to be turned away by Martin. Martin ended the match with eight saves.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, Oct. 6, as the Blue Raiders host No. 25 Cumberland (Tenn.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
