BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Amara Safuan's goal in the 77th minute was all the Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team needed in a 1-0 win over Cumberland (Tenn.) in the Mid-South Conference Tournament finals today at Joe Hood Field.

With the win, Lindsey Wilson (10-5-3) clinches the conference's automatic into the NAIA National Tournament which begins next weekend at host sites around the NAIA. The tournament field is scheduled to be announced on Monday.

Safuan dribbled around the Cumberland defense and blasted a shot from 30 yards away with her left foot. The shot soared past Phoenix goalkeeper Ashley Kambeitz into the upper-right corner of the goal as the lone goal of the game.

Jovana Ivanovic made sure the goal was enough, stopping all four shots she faced in the Lindsey Wilson goal. It is her sixth shutout of the season and her third in the three games at the conference tournament.

Second-seeded Lindsey Wilson controlled most of the play throughout the match. The Blue Raiders outshot the top-seeded Phoenix (14-5-1) 14-6, including 6-4 in shots on goal.

Ivanovic made her most critical save of the game in the 72nd minute as she punched away a shot from MSC Player of the Year Rebecca Holloway. The save -- Ivanovic's last of the game -- kept the match scoreless heading into the waning stages of the game.

The Blue Raiders had two chances late in the game to add insurance goals.

Safuan hit the crossbar in the 80th minute and Ida Onnervik hit the post in the 89th minute.

The MSC Tournament title is the 16th for the Blue Raiders and their fifth straight. Lindsey Wilson has won 16 of 18 MSC Tournament titles since joining the Mid-South in 2000.

Lindsey Wilson learns its opening-round opponent on Monday, Nov. 13, as the NAIA releases the tournament field during its selection show at 11 a.m. CT on the NAIA website.
