BARTLESVILLE, Okla. -- Lindsey Wilson women's soccer closed out its 2017 season today with a 3-0 loss to 13th-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round at the OKWU Soccer Complex.

The Blue Raiders managed 14 shots, including six on target, but none found the back of the net in the loss.

Aracely Ortega, Taylor Gross and Kaja Cremin each scored goals in the game for the Lady Eagles (20-1-1). Oklahoma Wesleyan ended the match with 16 shots, including seven on goal.

Ortega netted the first goal of the game in the 18th minute for the 1-0 lead.

Lindsey Wilson had a pair of chances to score in the first half only to be turned away by Oklahoma Wesleyan goalkeeper Sydney Vickers. The Lady Eagles led 1-0 at the half.

Veronica Kurtz tried to pull the Blue Raiders even in the early stages of the second half. Vickers stopped both Kurtz shots -- coming in the 53rd and 58th minutes -- to keep Oklahoma Wesleyan in front.

Following the latter Vickers save, Oklahoma Wesleyan doubled its lead as Gross scored off a Cremin assist in the 58th minute to put the Lady Eagles up 2-0. Oklahoma Wesleyan all but put the game out of reach in the 69th minute as Cremin scored an unassisted goal for the 3-0 lead.

Lindsey Wilson had one final, furious rally as the Blue Raiders recorded four shots and a corner kick over a four-minute span beginning in the 78th minute. Again, Lindsey Wilson was denied and the Lady Eagles closed out the game with the 3-0 win.

Jovana Ivanovic ended the contest with four saves while allowing all three goals. Vickers picked up the shutout win while collecting six saves.

Oklahoma Wesleyan advances to the NAIA National Tournament Second Round to face fourth-seeded William Carey (Miss.) on Monday, Nov. 27 in Orange Beach, Alabama.
