Men's Golf finishes fifth at Skyhawk Invitational

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team shaved seven strokes off their opening-round total to finish in fifth place at the Skyhawk Invitational on Tuesday.

The Blue Raiders shot a 613 (310-307) over the two-day event at the par-72, 7,057-yard Callaway Gardens Mountain View Course.

Both Federico Navarro and Rasmus Broholt Lind surged up the leaderboard on day two, each moving up more than 10 spots in the final standings.

Navarro recorded the top Blue Raider finish as he tied for eighth with a two-day 151 (78-73) to finish 7-over par for the tournament. Lind finished one stroke behind him in a four-way tie for 11th place after his 152 (78-74). The duo was tied for 23rd following the opening round of competition at the 92-man event.

Alex Durham was unable to match his opening round 75 as he carded a 79 in the second round to finish 10-over for the tournament in a tie for 19th place. Frederik Willer moved up seven spots in the final standings after trimming his 79 on the first day down to a 77 to finish tied for 29th. Clayton Bradshaw completed the squad with a 174 (87-87) in 80th place.

Host Point (Ga.) took home the team victory with a two-day 599 (301-298), edging out second place Reinhardt (Ga.) at 602 (305-297).

Trevecca Nazarene's (Tenn.) Larken Whittemore, Point's Francisco Oliveira and Reinhardt's Ben Dulin all finished the second round tied at 2-over par for the tournament. Oliveira won the sudden-death playoff on the second hole after sinking a 30-foot birdie putt.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Monday, March 20 for the first day of the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament held at Crooked Creek Golf Club.
