FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson men's basketball scored six of the final seven points to beat Cumberlands (Ky.) 64-60 today in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at the Frankfort Convention Center.

The fifth-seeded Blue Raiders (21-10) advance to the semifinals where they face top-seeded Life (Ga.) at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday. Life defeated No. 8-seed Shawnee State (Ohio) 60-57 in today's first quarterfinal.

Lindsey Wilson's strong start and finish in the second half enabled the Blue Raiders to advance to their second straight tournament semifinals.

After trailing 29-24 at intermission, the Blue Raiders outscored Cumberlands (22-8) 17-2 in the first five minutes of the second half. Following a comeback -- that ultimately gave the Patriots back the lead -- Lindsey Wilson held Cumberlands without a field goal and just one point over the final 1:58 to pull off the upset.

Chance Morton -- who finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds -- scored the final Cumberlands basket of the game to give the Patriots a 59-58 lead with 1:58 left in regulation.

Allen Costley pushed the Blue Raiders back in the lead for good 16 seconds later. The field goal provided the 14th lead change of the game.

Cumberlands missed three consecutive chances to retake the lead and was forced to foul Dmitry Utolin with 23 seconds left. Utolin made both free throws to extend the LWC lead to 62-59. He ended the game with 14 points, including 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Kelsley Wilkinson connected on one of two free throws with 10 seconds left to inch the Patriots within two points, but Utolin sealed the Blue Raiders' win with two more free throws with eight seconds remaining.

The Blue Raiders -- who shot a frigid 25 percent (5-of-20) in the opening 20 minutes -- shot 52 percent (13-of-25) in the second half to end the game out-shooting the Patriots 40 to 33.9 percent from the field.

Bryan Wallace led the Blue Raiders with 15 points while Charles Sutton added 12 points. Eddie Tornes joined Morton in double figures with 12. Wilkinson added 11.

In addition to its hot finish, Lindsey Wilson made the most of its trips to the free throw line. The Blue Raiders closed the evening hitting 82.8 percent (24-of-29) of their freebies. Cumberlands ended 12-of-18 from the charity stripe.

Out of the locker room, Lindsey Wilson connected on seven of its first nine shots to take a 41-31 lead -- the biggest of the game. Cumberlands responded with a 10-0 run midway through the half to knot the game at 46-46.

The game remained a one-possession game until the Blue Raiders closed with the 6-1 run.

Lindsey Wilson faces Life on Saturday. The Running Eagles won both meetings during the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for at 5 p.m. CT.
