Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky.- The fifth-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team fell to No. 14-ranked Martin Methodist (Tenn.) 4-1 in a top-15 matchup on Saturday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
The RedHawks (2-0) outshot the Blue Raiders (1-1) 19-12 with a seven to three advantage in shots on goal. Hannah Schrage scored the lone Lindsey Wilson goal.
Martin Methodist struck first in the 52nd minute on a Miku Sunaga goal assisted by Caroline Ladaga. Ladaga played the ball on the left side and sent it to a running Sunaga who headed it into the net. The RedHawks struck again in the 79th minute on a Riko Sagara goal. Millene Cabral Vieira slipped past two Blue Raider defenders finding Sagara for the goal increasing the RedHawk lead to 2-0.
Cabral Vieira was taken down in the box in 82nd minute and scored on a penalty kick that went past the diving goalkeeper increasing the Martin Methodist lead to 3-0. Schrage got the Blue Raiders on the board in the 85th minute cutting the lead to 3-1 on a pass from Shelby Austin. Caroline Ladaga increased the RedHawk lead to 4-1 with a goal in the 89th minute.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Sept. 1 when they travel Bourbonnais, Illinois to take Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) at 7 p.m. CT.
