Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team and No. 1 Northwestern Ohio played to a scoreless draw on Saturday night in a top-10 match at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
The result marks the third-straight, double overtime tie for the Blue Raiders who move to 1-1-3 on the season. Northwestern Ohio the 2016 NAIA National Champions move to 4-1-1 with the result.
Lindsey Wilson was outshot 21-9 in the contest including 7-2 in shots on goal by Northwestern Ohio.
The Racers had their chances in the first half by putting pressure on the Blue Raider backline registering four shots on goal, but failed to put one past LWC goalkeeper Jovana Ivanovic.
In the second half, Northwestern Ohio had an excellent scoring chance in the 78th minute when Bogca Horvath headed a corner kick on target, but once again Ivanovic was there to preserve the clean sheet. The Racers outshot the Blue Raiders 11-3 in the second 45 minutes alone.
The Blue Raiders' best chance came in overtime when Shelby Austin took a tight angle shot that deflected off the post and back into play where Ivana Damnjanovic fired from close range, but her effort was blocked by the Racer defense. LWC outshot UNOH 4-3 in the first overtime period, the first frame all night the Blue Raiders held a shot advantage.
Ivanovic extended her scoreless streak to just over 331 minutes with tonight's clean sheet, making seven saves in the process. It is the first time in women's soccer program history that the Blue Raiders have been shutout in three-consecutive contests.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action during the Lindsey Wilson Classic on Sept. 15 – 16, where they will take on No. 2 Spring Arbor (Mich.) and No. 20 Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) both at 7 p.m. at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
