Women's Soccer and Baker play to scoreless draw

Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- No. 10 Lindsey Wilson women's soccer and No. 16 Baker (Kan.) played to a scoreless draw on Tuesday night in a top-20 battle at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

The tie is the second straight for the Blue Raiders who move to 1-1-2 on the season. Lindsey Wilson last had back-to-back draws during the 2014 season. Baker moves to 0-1-1 with the result.

Lindsey Wilson outshot the visitors 12-5 during the match, including 5-0 in shots on goal.

Baker goalkeeper Rachel Hunt turned away each Blue Raider shot, including a first-half penalty kick.

Lindsey Wilson had an opportunity in the second minute to dent the scoreboard. Sanna Svensson directed a header off a corner kick to the inside post only to have Hunt secure the save.

Two minutes later, Shelby Austin was fouled in the penalty area to set up the Blue Raider penalty kick. Hunt guessed correctly, diving to lower right to push Delfina Santellan's penalty shot away.

Baker seized the momentum from Lindsey Wilson midway through the first half. The Wildcats put pressure on the Blue Raider backline, but could never manage a shot on target.

The best Lindsey Wilson chance in the second half came in the 88th minute. Austin received a pass into the penalty area that she played past a diving Hunt -- who was charging off her line. Austin blasted a shot on target only to have Morgan Bohnenstiehl clear the ball before reaching the goal.

The Blue Raiders managed the only two shots in the two overtimes, but neither threatened the break the tie.

Jovana Ivanovic extended her scoreless streak to just over 221 minutes with tonight's clean sheet.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action 5 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 9, as the Blue Raiders host No. 1-ranked Northwestern Ohio at Reuling Stadium.
