COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team defeated Georgetown (Ky.) in Mid-South Conference action on Friday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. The Blue Raiders Alicia Thoresen broke the scoreless tie in the second half as a pair of quality corner kicks by Veronica Kurtz pushed LWC over the Tigers 3-0.

Lindsey Wilson (4-2-2, 2-0-1 MSC) outshot the Tigers (3-7-0, 0-2-0 MSC) 27-9 including 10-6 in shots on goal as they were able to push the pace of play for most of the game.

The Blue Raiders scored four minutes into the second half to take a 1-0 lead when Thoresen scored her fourth goal of the season. Hannah Schrage's shot from 12-yards out ricocheted off the Georgetown goalpost, to the foot of Thoresen who was able to redirect the ball into the goal.

Lindsey Wilson got a great bounce with just over 29 minutes left in the second half. Kurtz sent a corner into the box that deflected off the hands of the Tiger goalkeeper and into the goal, doubling the LWC lead to 2-0.

Two minutes later the Blue Raiders would strike again, this time on a magnificent corner from Kurtz that found a waiting Emelie Liljered 6-yard out. Liljered finished the play, increasing the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-0.

Thoresen would almost cash in on her second goal of the game with just over 12 minutes remaining. Breaking free from defenders just outside the 18-yard box Thoresen rocketed a shot that crashed off the crossbar and was then cleared to safety.

Lindsey Wilson used 11 shots in the half to tally their three goals as Jovana Ivanovic finished the game with five saves.

The Blue Raiders pushed their attack in the first half. Sina Cavelti managed to get around a Georgetown defender finding space inside the right half of the 18-yard box during the 3rd minute. Cavelti played a ball to Kurtz who one touched the pass and then fired her shot just high and wide of the goal.

During the 20th minute, Schrage played a beautiful ball 30-yard, finding an open Kurtz behind Georgetown defenders but after miss handing the touch, Tigers goalkeeper smothered the ball to deny the scoring chance.

Just three minutes later the Blue Raiders created their best opportunity of the half when they created a 3-on-2 opportunity. Kurtz laid a ball off to Cavelti down the left half of the field who then crossed a ball to Schrage just six-yard out. Unable to handle the cross cleanly, Schrage fired her shot high of the Tiger goal.

The Blue Raiders pushed the pace of play in the first half outshooting the Tigers 16-4, but the LWC offensive pressure only managed to send four of their attempts on target. Georgetown put all of their attempts on goal.

Lindsey Wilson hits the road for their next contest, traveling to Pikeville, Ky., to face Pikeville at 2 p.m. CT.
