CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The No. 1-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team opened the MSC women's soccer tournament with commanding 11-0 victory over No. 8-seed Pikeville (Ky.) on a rainy Thursday morning at Finley Stadium on the campus of Campbellsville University.

Emelie Liljered and Thea Birgerud both scored three goals for the Blue Raiders (9-3-2, 6-0-1 MSC) as Liljered added two assists. Yvonne Ploeg tallied two goals as MSC Freshman of the Year Sina Cavelti, Amara Safuan and Sanna Svensson all added one goal in the match. Safuan and Delfina Santellan tallied two assists.

The Blue Raiders recorded 36 shots for the match as 20 of their attempts were on target. The LWC defense produced a clean sheet after they allowed Pikeville (2-16-0, 0-7-0 MSC) to attempt zero shots in the contest.

Lindsey Wilson got off to a quick start in their first game of the conference tournament, scoring two goals just a minute apart during the 4th and 5th minute. The first goal came when Liljered managed to create space before playing the ball off to an open Cavelti inside the 18-yard box who was able to finish far post.

Just moments later, the Blue Raiders Birgerud would increase the LWC lead to 2-0 when a pass deflected off a Pikeville defender to Birgerud. After taking one touch the freshman fired a shot just inside the right post.

Liljered would record back-to-back goals during the 13th and the 17th minute, vaulting the Blue Raiders to a commanding 4-0 lead. Her first would come when Santellan drove hard into the box and play a ball out to Liljered who was able to chip one over Pikeville's goalkeeper for the score from 20-yards out. Liljered's second goal came on a header off an Safuan corner kick.

The Blue Raiders added another goal during the 27th minute when Santellan played a perfect cross that Safaun managed to head past the Bears goalkeeper.

During the 32nd minute, LWC scored again to increase their lead to 6-0. This time Liljered played a ball off to Birgerud who was able to score her second goal of the contest.

Lindsey Wilson controlled the action in the first half as they did not allow the Bears to record a shot. LWC recorded 21 shots with 11 of their attempts on target. Liljered paced the Blue Raiders with two goals and two assists in the half.

The Blue Raiders added five more goals in the second half as they also managed 15 shots as nine of them were on goal. The first goal came off a penalty kick by Svensson after the Bears were flagged for a handball inside the penalty box.

Liljered and Birgerud picked up their third goals of the day during the 71st and 73rd minute, respectively. Liljered collected the ball just eight-yards out when she buried her shot into the left corner of the goal past a diving Bears goalkeeper. Moments later Birgerud scored on a Kajsa Conradsen cross to give the Blue Raiders a 9-0 lead.

Ploeg scored Lindsey Wilson's final two goals of the day to give LWC the match by a final score of 11-0.

The Blue Raiders will face either No. 4-seeded Campbellsville or No. 5-seeded Life (Ga.) next Thursday in the MSC Tournament Semifinals at 11 a.m. CT in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
