Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The No. 2-seeded Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team defeated No. 7-seed Pikeville (Ky.) 9-0 on Friday afternoon during the quarterfinals of the MSC Tournament at Finley Stadium on the campus of Campbellsville University.
MSC Player of the Year Andrew Revanales added to his spectacular performance this season as he was able to score the game's first four goals - a career high - all within the first 25 minutes of action as he added two assists later in the first half. Three different Blue Raiders picked up assists on Revanales' goals. Rainer De Jesus added two goals in the half to give the Blue Raiders a commanding 6-0 lead at the break.
Lindsey Wilson managed a quick start in the match when Revanales was able to get behind Pikeville defenders on a through ball by Renan Ramos during the fourth minute. After taking two touches Revanales finished into the lower-right corner of the goal, past a charging Bear goalkeeper.
Four minutes later Revanales would strike again. De Jesus charged towards the end line just outside the 18-yard box and was able to find a waiting Revanales, who then finished towards the far post, increasing the LWC lead to 2-0.
Revanales recorded his third goal of the game during the 14th minute. Anouar Adam played a perfect cross into the 18-yard box that just missed the hands of Pikeville's goalkeeper, finding an open Revanales who was able to head it into the goal.
For the fourth and final time Revanales was able to find the back of the net. This time he headed a free kick from De Jesus near post, during the 25th minute, to increase the Lindsey Wilson lead to 4-0.
Revanales added his first assist of the game during the 36th minute when he sent a ball to De Jesus who was able to finish under a diving goalkeeper to the left post.
De Jesus picked up his second goal of the game with just over two minutes left in the half when his shot from just outside the 18-yard box crashed into a wide-open goal. Revanales picked up the helper.
Just over a minute into the second half De Jesus charged into the penalty area where he was taken down, resulting in a LWC penalty kick. Lindsey Wilson's Nicholas Marcano took the attempt, scoring into the top left corner of the goal.
Karim Jouini added to the LWC lead during the 71st minute when he chipped a ball over the goalkeeper giving the Blue Raiders an 8-0 lead. David Ibrahimkadic tallied the assist.
Jan Engels scored the Blue Raiders final goal of the day during the 86th minute on rebound off a Jaxson Paulin shot.
Lindsey Wilson used 30 shots in the game placing 20 of their attempts on goal as the LWC defense prevented Pikeville from attempting a shot.
The Blue Raiders will face either No. 3-seeded Campbellsville or No. 6-seeded Georgetown (Ky.) next Friday in the MSC Tournament Semifinals at 6:30 p.m. CT in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
