Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team defeated Goshen (Ind.) after an overtime goal from Stephane Dasse during the 97th minute.
After receiving a corner kick, LWC's Renan Ramos sent a low, hard cross into the box. The ball made its way through traffic finding the foot of Dasse who was finally able to poke one past Goshen goalkeeper to secure the 1-0 victory for LWC.
Lindsey Wilson (6-1-1) outshot the Maple Leafs (5-4) 28-4 and held an 11-2 edge in shots on goal. Andrew Revanales led the attack with seven shots, four on goal, as Rainer De Jesus managed four shots with three on goal.
The Blue Raiders registered 12 shots in the first half of action as five of the attempts found their way on target, but they were all turned away by Goshen goalkeeper Johan Escalante. The two squads traded possession for much of the half as neither team managed to create quality scoring opportunities.
Late in the second half, Gosha recorded their first shot on goal with just over six minutes remaining in regulation.
Lindsey Wilson then created a quality scoring chance during the 86th minute when Ramos cut through Goshen defenders and found an open Anouar Adam 15-yards out. After one touch, Adam's fired a shot toward the upper right hand corner of the goal that was tracked down by Escalante.
Goshen's Uriel Macias almost stole the game in the final seconds of the half when he created space just outside the 18-yard box. A well placed shot towards the left post was knocked away by a diving Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Noah Slepicka, preserving the 0-0 tie and forcing overtime.
Lindsey Wilson tacked on four more shots in the overtime period before Dasse ended the match with his goal from Ramos.
Goshen goalkeeper Escalante stopped 10 Lindsey Wilson shots as Stuart Aeschliman led the Maple Leafs with two shots.
Lindsey Wilson hosts Campbellsville (Ky.) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for their first Mid-South Conference matchup of the 2018 campaign at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
