Box Score GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Sina Cavelti's goal in the 86th minute proved to be the difference-maker in the Blue Raiders Mid-South Conference season-opening win on Wednesday night at Toyota Stadium.
Paula Espinoza set a ball into the middle of the field that found Alicia Thoresen who was then able to play one wide outside the 18-yard box to Cavelti. The sophomore forward then took a few touches before smashing one off the crossbar and into the goal for the score.
Lindsey Wilson would dominate the action in their attacking third in the first half but couldn't get one of their 13 shots in the half past the Georgetown goalkeeper. The Blue Raiders placed five of their shots on goal. Georgetown produced just two shots with one on goal in the half.
Evelijn Frigotto anchored the LWC defensive efforts, recording her second shutout of the season with four saves.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT when they welcome MSC newcomer Thomas More (Ky.) to Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
