Thoresen's strike pushes women's soccer to 1-0 win over Thomas More

Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team won their second straight Mid-South Conference match by a score of 1-0 as they take down Thomas More (Ky.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

The Blue Raiders (6-2-1, 2-0-0 MSC) would strike in the 71st minute with a goal that proved to be enough. Emelie Liljered put together a brilliant effort down the right sideline to create space before sending off a low cross into the penalty area. The pass found its way to a waiting Alicia Thoresen who took a few touches before finishing near post for the score.

Lindsey Wilson held a slight advantage at 7-6 in shots as LWC put four of their attempts on target compared to the Saints (7-5-0, 0-2-0 MSC) two.

Thomas More pushed the pace in the first half recording two great scoring chances. Both of their attempts were from inside the penalty area but the shots would both crash off the goal post and then be cleared to safety.

Lindsey Wilson outshot the Saint 6-5 including 4-1 in shots on goal in the first half as most of the Blue Raiders chances would come via corner kicks. In total, LWC would receive eight corners to the Saints two.

LWC finished the night with 12 total corner kicks. Eveljn Frigotto picked up the shutout as she stopped all three shots she faced.

With the win head coach Drew Burwash collects career win No. 300.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Oct. 8 when they hit the road to take on Shawnee State at 4 p.m. CT in another MSC matchup.
