Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Lindsey Wilson men's soccer scored two second-half goals to beat host Shawnee State (Ohio) 3-1 tonight at Shawnee Turf.
With the win, Lindsey Wilson head coach Ray Wells wins his 600th career game -- 528 of those coming while serving as the Blue Raiders' coach.
Bruno Henrique and Akean Shackleford each scored in the game to help the Blue Raiders improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the Mid-South Conference.
Henrique opened the scoring in the seventh minute off a Neville Morgan assist to give Lindsey Wilson an early 1-0 lead. The Bears (7-5, 0-2) answered in the 38th minute as Kevin De Lange found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
Just like the early goal in the first half, Henrique gave the Blue Raiders the advantage in the earlier stages of the second frame with a goal off his own corner kick. The goal is Henrique's fifth of the season and gives him his first multi-goal game this year.
Shackleford -- the MSC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week -- added an insurance goal in the 88th minute off an Alexander Koziolek assist for the 3-1 lead and eventually the win. The goal is Shackleford's conference-leading 11th of the season.
The Blue Raiders ended the game outshooting the Bears 22-13 for the match.
David Coffey stopped three Shawnee State shots while allowing the one goal en route to the win between the pipes.
Wells is the only coach in the history of the Lindsey Wilson men's soccer program. Now in his 30th season with Lindsey Wilson, Wells owns a 528-106-32 record with the Blue Raiders. He is 600-143-40 all-time in 37 seasons as a head coach.
