Men's Soccer beats Shawnee State 6-1 in MSC Tournament Quarterfinals

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Akean Shackleford scored four times to lead Lindsey Wilson men's soccer to a 6-1 win today over Shawnee State (Ohio) in the Mid-South Conference Tournament quarterfinals at Jim Ross Field.

Second-seeded Lindsey Wilson (12-3) advances to Sunday's semifinals to face either third-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) or sixth-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.).

Shackleford opened the scoring in the 14th minute and added goals in the 31st, 57th, 67th minutes for his sixth multi-goal game of the season. The four goals are a season-high and give him a season-high 19 this season.

Neville Morgan pushed the Blue Raiders in front 2-0 in the 22nd minute. His goal was sandwiched between a pair of Shackleford goals to help Lindsey Wilson lead the Bears (9-9-1) 3-0 at the break.

Shawnee State's Kevin de Lange cut the deficit to 3-1 with a goal in the 51st minute.

Lindsey Wilson quickly responded as Oscar Dueso scored his 13th goal of the season in the 56th minute to give the Blue Raiders the 4-1 advantage. Shackleford scored again less than a minute to all but ice the game.

Lindsey Wilson outshot the Bears 15-8.

David Coffey finished the match with six saves in his nearly 79 minutes in goal for the Blue Raiders.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Sunday in the tournament semifinals.
