PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Lindsey Wilson opened up the 2019 season with a 2-0 loss at NCAA Division II West Florida tonight at the UWF Soccer Complex.

The Argonauts scored a goal in each half in the win. West Florida finished the match with a 12-9 shots advantage while the Blue Raiders hit the target five times compared to the Argonauts four.

Sean Hoffstatter scored in the 14th minute to give West Florida (1-0) the 1-0 lead. Joshua Sauer doubled the lead in the 71st minute to ultimately provide the final score.

Rainer De Jesus recorded a pair of shots, both on goal, to lead the 17th-ranked Blue Raiders (0-1). West Florida's Jihad Gomes collected five saves in the shutout. Lindsey Wilson's Alex Sanchez allowed both goals while stopping two shots.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 7, as the Blue Raiders host No. 10-ranked Spring Arbor (Mich.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
