COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team finished second at the Blue Raider Classic this week at The Pines of Lindsey Wilson.
The Blue Raiders posted a two-day total of 567 (288-279) to place second out of ten teams. Campbellsville (Ky.) won the tournament with a score of 562 (281-281). Thomas More (Ky.) finished with a total score of 573 (282-291) securing them a third-place finish.
Five individuals finished the two-round classic in the lead at four under par, each earning a spot in the playoff. Callum Blinkhorn and Etienne Rensburg both shot 138 to tie with three Campbellsville golfers for first place overall at the tournament.
Rensburg and the Tigers Justin Warman battled in a playoff lasting five holes as Warmen would edge out Rensburg. Alternating play on the par-5 No. 1 and par-5 No. 18 the two would score the same through the first four holes (4-4-6-4) before Warman birdied the fifth hole of the playoff to take first place.
Callum Burns tied for 11th by shooting even both days recording a 142 (71-71). Cody Mingus finished with a 149 (75-74) tying for 32nd and Jeremiah Hayes tied for 37th with a 150 (75-75) to round out the Blue Raider five-man squad.
Blinkhorn and Rensburg each were named to the all-tournament team for their performance.
Lindsey Wilson also had five people play as individuals. Colby White shot the lowest round in the tournament on Monday and finished with a 139 (66-73), just one stroke away from competing in the playoff.
Janik Hawlitzky tied for 19th with a 146 (73-73). Scot Kirby finished just one stroke behind with a 147(73-74) and tied for 24th. Blake Biggs recorded a 153(73-80) tying for 44th and Shane Henderson finished 57th with a 161(73-88).
Next up for the Blue Raiders is the Mid-South Conference fall classic on October 7-8 in Richmond, Kentucky.
