COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team lost to No. 9 Martin Methodist 4-3 at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Saturday night.

The Blue Raiders scored the first goal of the contest during just the 11th minute off a set-piece. Thea Birgerud played a ball into the penalty area that would find the foot of a waiting Sina Cavelti. Cavelti took just one touch before striking a low shot near post past a diving keeper.

From there the RedHawks would then score four straight goals on the Blue Raiders in the half.

Martin Methodist responded just three minutes after the LWC goal with their first of the night. A ball played over the top of the Lindsey Wilson defense was challenged by a charging Eveljn Frigotto from her goalkeeper position. The ball popped loose on the play and Yuki Watari was able to finish into a wide-open goal.

Adisa Amang scored the go-ahead goal in the 24th minute before Natsuna Sugishita doubled their lead with her goal in the 26th minute. Amang's first shot was blocked away by Kim Degroot but Amang found her own rebound and was able to put it away. Sugishita scored on an assist from Suzuho Yamasaki just inside the penalty area.

Watari scored her second goal of the night during the 38th minute as the RedHawks would take a 4-1 advantage into the break.

Lindsey Wilson chipped away at the RedHawk lead when Cavelti scored her second goal of the night. In the 55th minute, Amara Safuan played a low corner kick into the box. Cavelti charged near post and one-touched the ball into the goal, cutting the Martin Methodist lead in half at 4-2.

Maria Frazier would score LWC's final goal of the night in the 85th minute for the Blue Raiders off another corner kick from Safuan.

The Blue Raiders efforts to mount a comeback would fall short as the RedHawks would deny the rest of the Blue Raiders scoring bids in the game. LWC outshot the RedHawks 23-16 but MMC put 11 of their attempts on goal compared to the Blue Raiders nine.

The Blue Raiders return to action on Oct. 2 when they open Mid-South Conference play on the road against Georgetown (Ky.).
