Box Score MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team scored a season-high six goals in a 6-2 win over Milligan (Tenn.) on Saturday evening at Anglin Soccer Field.
For the contest, the Blue Raiders outshot their host 20-11, including 16-7 in shots on goal. Emelie Liljered paced the LWC attack with two goals as Alicia Thoresen, Paula Espinoza, Flavia Laich and Sina Cavelti each netted a goal of their own.
Espinoza struck in the 11th minute to give the Blue Raiders (3-1) a 1-0 lead. Milligan (0-2) responded quickly with a goal of their own just 21 seconds later as Audra Morgan snuck one past LWC goalkeeper Eveljn Frigotto for the 1-1 tie.
The Blue Raiders regained the lead in the 17th minute when Liljered scored an unassisted goal. Just moments later Liljered would strike again when she netted her second of the game past Milligan goalkeeper on a ball from Laich for the 3-1 advantage.
Cavelti increased the Lindsey Wilson lead to 4-1 with her goal during the 19th minute.
Lindsey Wilson completed its 5-0 scoring run in the second half producing two more scores. Laich scored during the 64th minute on a goal assisted by Cavelti and Thoresen scored the final Blue Raider goal of the night for the 6-1 lead in the 66th minute.
Milligan's Dharma Fawbush scored late in the contest but the Blue Raiders efforts would afford them a 6-2 victory as time expired.
Frigotto finished the night with five saves as she anchored the Lindsey Wilson defensive efforts from her goalkeeper position.
The Blue Raiders return to action at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, Sept 12, against fourth-ranked Spring Arbor (Mich.) in the Lindsey Wilson Classic at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
