Box Score 1 COLUMBIA, Ky. – An Alicia Thoresen hat trick leads the Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team to an 8-1 victory over Georgetown to remain undefeated in conference play. Yudaya Nakayenze and Rayssa Neres Gomes De Souza added two goals and Claudia Santillan Escobar added a goal to get on the score sheet.
Lindsey Wilson (7-2-0, 6-0 MSC) had more shots on goal over the Tigers (4-6-1, 2-3-0 MSC) 13-8 while outshooting Georgetown 19-18. Thoresen scored a hat trick to tie the team lead in goals while Nakayenze added two goals of her own to stay tied with Thoresen. In addition to that, De Souza added two goals to double her goal total on the year. Emma Lindell picked up two assists with the first two goals of the match to Thoresen. Thoresen picked up her third assist with a pass to Nakayenze for the third goal while Nakayenze also picked up her third assist of the season in the victory.
The Blue Raiders got on the score sheet in the 22nd minute with Lindell playing a great low cross to Thorsen who finished it to make it 1-0 Lindsey Wilson. Three minutes later, Thoresen again doubled the advantage with a strike from just outside of the box that the keeper watched go by. Nakayenze in the 33rd minute added another goal to make it 3-0 with a low cross from Thoresen.
At the end of the first half, De Souza went on a great run by herself as she chipped it over the keeper to make it 4-0. Georgetown would answer seconds later with a long-distance strike to make it 4-1 going into halftime.
The Blue Raiders added four more goals in the second half as Nakayenze in the 58th put away a penalty kick into the bottom corner of the net for a 5-1 advantage. De Souza added a second goal with a low cross from Nakayenze to make it 6-1 two minutes later. Thoresen completed her hat trick with a run down the right side of the pitch to make it 7-1. Escobar put away a penalty kick away in the 67th minute to make it 8-1.
Lindsey Wilson heads back on the road to continue conference play as they travel to Freed-Hardeman on October 12th. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT.
