Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team's upset bid of No. 3 UT Southern fell short on Tuesday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

Despite the Blue Raiders controlling play early in the contest and scoring the first two goals of the match, UT Southern's offensive prowess took over towards the end of the first half. LWC managed a 2-0 lead after scoring goals in the sixth and 16th minutes.

UT Southern responded with seven unanswered goals. The Firehawks came to life in 44th minute with their first goal and continued pushing the pace in the final 45. UT Southern went on to score seven straight goals to take down the Blue Raiders 7-2.

Yudaya Nakayenze picked up three points on the night for LWC and opened the scoring. She later added an assist on an Emma Lindell goal just ten minutes later.

The Firehawks cut the Lindsey Wilson lead in half during the 44th minute and would get the equalizer in the opening moments of the second half. A goal by Annah Norman in the 53rd minute gave the Firehawks a 3-2 advantage and went on to be the game-winner for UT Southern.

Lindsey Wilson was outshot 35-15 including 17-4 in shots on goal. Maya Caon finished the contest with 10 saves.

The Blue Raiders return to the pitch on Sunday when they travel to Lebanon, Tennesse to take on Cumberland (Tenn.) at Noon CT.
