Box Score CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team remained undefeated in conference play after defeating Thomas More (Ky.) 5-0 away from home this evening. Four different Blue Raiders scored tonight with Victor Cavalcante, Julien Gastaldy, Cyrus Harmon, and Nathaniel Onyina Opoku all getting on the score sheet for Lindsey Wilson.
Lindsey Wilson (6-1-1, 5-0 MSC) outshot the Saints (4-4-2, 2-3 MSC) 19-8 with a 10-2 shot on goal mark. Opoku scored his seventh goal in eight games while Gastaldy found the net for the second game in a row. In addition to that, Cavalcante scored his first goal for the Blue Raiders while Harmon notched a brace and an assist in the game. Alexander Koziolek also picked up another assist on the night, his sixth in eight games while David Ibrahimkadic picked up his first assist of the season in the victory.
It was a back and forth opening 30 minutes from both teams with chances coming at either end of the field. However, the deadlock was broken in the 32nd minute after Harmon darted down the wing with the ball, finding the diving head of Opoku with his cross. The recent Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week scored his seventh goal in eight games to give the Blue Raiders the 1-0 lead.
Moments later the Saints had two opportunities to level the match, missing a wide-open net with a header after Henrique Cavalini had missed his attempt to punch the ball clear from the corner. Flo Meyer hit the crossbar from a free-kick minutes later letting the Blue Raiders know they still pose an offensive threat.
Just before the half ended, Harmon found himself downfield in a 1v1 position against a defender, drove the ball into the box on his left foot, and found the bottom right corner for the 2-0 halftime lead.
The scoring momentum followed the Blue Raiders right out of the gate to start the second half as Gastaldy hit a right-footed curling shot into the top right corner from outside of the box to push the score to 3-0. Moments later, Cavalcante decided to shoot from 20-yards outside the box, surprising the goalkeeper who watched go over his head and into the net for 4-0.
In the 65th minute, the ball was moved quickly up the field slicing through the Saints defense. It ended up at the feet of Ibrahimkadic on the far side who found the feet of Harmon in the box with a cross that was put away for the winning 5-0 scoreline.
Lindsey Wilson returns home on October 9th to take on Georgetown (Ky.). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
