BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – The Lindsey Wilson Indoor Track and Field teams got back to action on Friday competing in the Hoosier Open hosted by Indiana University to open their 2021-22 indoor season.
The Blue Raiders picked up 10 top-five finishes in nine events on Friday while Jelle Golbach on the men's side collected an "A" standard in the high jump.
Golbach reached his standard in the high jump after leaping for 2.04 meters. Golbach also placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles after finishing with a time of nine minutes and thirty-nine seconds. John Rowe finished just behind him in sixth with a time of 10.01.
Continuing in the field events, Robert Dyer placed eighth in the long jump after jumping for 6.14 meters. Justin Borden finished just behind in ninth jumping for 6.02 meters.
Rayne Jones-Foster finished fourth in the triple jump leaping for 13.75 meters while Austin Campbell placed fifth in the shot put throwing for 14.76 meters.
In the remaining track events, three Blue Raiders from the men's side finished next to each other in the mile run as Michael Schonter, Jordan Tucker and Justin Stearns finished fifth, sixth, and seventh respectfully with times of 4:39.29, 4:44.78, and 4:48.72.
Edwin Van Wyk placed fifth in the 60-meter dash finishing with a time of 7.00 while also producing a time of 22.44 to finish sixth in the 200-meter run. JaMarri Mack placed seventh in the same event with a time of 23.02. Those two were also part of a 4x400-meter relay team that also included K'Ron Sherald and Jaylun Wallace who took third with a time of 3:39.74.
Finally, in the 300-meter run, Kaleb Hodges produced a fourth-place finish with a time of 38.07, and Jybari Springs took fifth with a time of 38.68.
As for the women, Henriette Hawlas placed 12th in the long jump with a 5.24-meter score. Meredith Johnson took fifth in the 1000-meter run placing a time of 3:03.27 and Luna Senica placed fourth in the 300-meter run with a time of 43.34.
The Blue Raiders will return to action in January to continue their indoor season.
