Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - Just a few hours after the Lindsey Wilson women ended the Shawnee State women's perfect season, the Blue Raider men joined the party and snapped the Bears' undefeated start in overtime.
For the third consecutive game, Lindsey Wilson (3-1-1, 3-0-1 MSC) and their opposition took their talents past regulation time, and for the second time in three days, the Blue Raiders emerged victoriously.
Six minutes and seven seconds into the first overtime period, Tajay Reid struck gold off the set up from Vitor De Lima to push the visitors to a 3-2 decision over their Ohio foe.
It was a quick start for the Blue Raiders as it took Cyrus Harmon only 52 seconds off the opening kick to get a goal past Shawnee State keeper, Bas Markus. The goal is Harmon's third on the season, which leads the team.
Bobo Kikonda drew the scoreline even for Bears at the 25th minute, leading to a 1-1 deadlock heading into the halftime break.
Lindsey Wilson was able to restore their advantage in the early stages of the second half, thanks to an unassisted effort from David Ibramkadic at the 57th minute.
However, just as the Blue Raiders were getting set to bring home the win, the Bears had other plans.
With a minute and change on the clock, Kevin De Lange put home the equalizer past David Coffey to force the extra frame.
The Blue Raiders were held to six shots on the afternoon, including one in overtime, but they got the shot that mattered from Reid, the only shot from either side in the overtime period.
Harmon paced Lindsey Wilson with two shots, both on goal.
Despite the rainy conditions, Shawnee State still managed to pour on 24 shots, including 10 on Coffey, who totaled eight saves.
The Blue Raiders will resume their road trip at Georgetown (Ky.) on March 7 before returning home to host Thomas More (Ky.) on March 9.
