Harmon's Hat-Trick Leads Men's Soccer to Victory Over Thomas More

Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. - Cyrus Harmon lit up the pitch with three goals on Thursday as the No. 8 Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team defeated Thomas More (Ky.) 3-1 at Blue Raider Stadium.

The match was the third time in five days the Blue Raiders took to the pitch.

Lindsey Wilson (5-2-1, 5-1-1 Mid-South Conference) was in control early on, as the Blue Raiders possessed the ball for a majority of the opening 10 minutes and had a couple of chances, though unsuccessful.

With 35:12 left in the first half, Hugo Sias floated a ball from 40 yards out to Harmon in the center of Thomas More's goal box. The midfielder trapped the pass with his body, took one dribble, and shot it past the Saints' keeper for the opening goal.

An opportunity arose for Thomas More (2-6, 1-6 MSC) 15 minutes before halftime when Charlie Allan had an open look at the top of the box but sent it bouncing off the right post.

With 13:24 remaining, the Saints scored the equalizer. Reese Foster controlled the rebound of a shot saved by Lindsey Wilson's keeper David Coffey and kicked it to the back of the net to tie the contest at 1-1.

Just two minutes after halftime, Harmon struck again. A cross by Neville Morgan from the far sideline went straight to an uncovered Harmon sitting right in front of the goal. The midfielder stuck out his right foot and deflected the ball in for a 2-1 Blue Raider lead.

Harmon completed the hat trick with 15:01 left on the scoreboard after a corner kick from Vitor De Lima bounced around a cluster of players in the goal box. Multiple touches occurred until a whiff on a failed clearance attempt by a Thomas More defender placed the ball at the toes of Harmon. A blast to the top-right corner moved the lead to 3-1 and was eventually enough to earn the win.

The trio of goals was a season-high for the Liberian as he leads the team with seven on the year. Morgan and Sias each registered an assist.

Lindsey Wilson's three-game homestand comes to a close with the victory, as the Blue Raiders travel to Pulaski, Tenn., to face Martin Methodist (Tenn.) on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. CT.
