COLUMBIA, Ky. – Despite rainy conditions, the Lindsey Wilson men's golf team pushed through to win the Blue Raider Invitational by 11 strokes on Tuesday afternoon. Lindsey Wilson's 17-under par second round set a new program low for strokes-under-par as a team. LWC turned in an impressive 830 (289-267-274) for the two-day event.
The Blue Raiders finished at 22-under-par for the invitational. After the event, Janik Hawlitzky and Callum Burns were named to the all-tournament team.
Hawlitzky outpaced all 47 competitors across the two days of play, after being only one of two individuals with three-under-par rounds. He finished nine-under with a 204 (69-69-66) to win the tournament by three strokes over Hayes Mason of Midway (Ky.) who carded a 207 (68-72-67).
Burns took fourth place with a four-under-par 209. Following a three-over-par opening round, Burns bounced back with a four-under 67 second round and a three-under 68 final round. Sebastian Sandin finished just behind in sixth with a three-under-par tournament. He carded a 210 (73-68-69).
Etienne Rensburg finished just outside the top-10, marking the fourth Blue Raider to finished under par for the invitational with a one-under-par, 212 (73-68-71). Alfie Yearsley carded a 216 (78-64-74) to finish in 16th place. His second-round 64 was the lowest round of the event.
Campbellsville (Ky.) finished in second place at 11-under-par with an 841 (278-281-282) as Midway (Ky.) was the only other program under-par, at a 5-under 847 (288-279-280).
Lindsey Wilson also had a "B" team compete at the event, finishing in eighth place. Shane Henderson carded a 221 (72-74-75) as Juan Pablo Garcia managed a 223 (74-73-76) to finish in 23rd and 24th, respectively.
AJ Shagool posted a 234 (80-79-75) as Evan Kidd scored a 238 (85-76-77) and Chase Carpenter scored a 271 (91-93-87). Jarrett Napier posted a 300 (103-99-98).
The Blue Raiders now turn their attention to the Invite at Innsbrook in Palm Harbour, Florida on Sept. 27-28.
