Men's Swimming finishes second at LWC Fall Frenzy

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Men's swimming finished in second place during the LWC Fall Frenzy at the Bob & Doris Holloway Natatorium on Saturday.

Campbellsville (Ky.) took the team championship by one point over LWC after finishing the event with 1,103 points.

Session 2:

Will Thilwind, Bryce Rice, Chase Hickman and Jordan Schaffer took first place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of one minute and 38.04 seconds. The pairing finished just ahead of James de Goede, Tyler Buffel, Siaka Weidenbaum and Tyler King who finished in 1:38.21.

Malte Ahrens touched the wall in first place of the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:31.80. Hickman and Weidenbaum finished one and two in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 53.15 and 53.19 seconds.

Fabio Martin tallied an NAIA provisional standard time of 1:46.61 in the 200-yard freestyle, taking first place in the event.

Buffel finished in first place of the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 1:02.66 as Rice finished just behind in third with a time of 1:04.94.

Thilwind notched an NAIA provisional standard in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.18 seconds as de Goede finished just behind in second with a time of 54.93 seconds.

De Goede, Ahrens, King and Martin paired up to take first place in the 800-yard freestyle relay. They finished with a time of 7:22.66. Buffel, Thilwind, Hickman and Weidenbaum took third with a time of 7:41.02.

Session 3:

Martin kicked off the final session with a provisional standard time of 16:36.77 in the 1650-yard freestyle. Ahrens also competed in the event taking third with his time of 17:26.85, also good for a provisional time.

Thilwind took first place by 17 seconds in the 200-yard backstroke when he touched the wall in 1:54.89. The mark was good for a provisional standard.

King and de Goede finished in first and second during the 100-yard freestyle with times of 48.67 and 49.08 seconds, respectively. Buffel claimed first place in the 200-yard breaststroke when he touched the wall in 2:20.33.

Weidenbaum and Hickman took second and third in the 200-yard butterfly with times of 1:59.78 and 2:05.90, respectively.

de Goede, Ahrens, Weidenbaum and King took second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay to close out the event.
