Indoor Track & Field Competes At Kentucky Collegiate Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson Indoor Track and Field teams returned to action on Saturday competing in the Kentucky Collegiate Invitational hosted by the Norton Center.

The Blue Raiders picked up 30 top-five finishes in 21 events on Saturday while the men racked up four wins in four separate events including the 60-meter dash, 1000-meter run, high jump, and triple jump.

Edwin Van Wyk got the first win of the day for the men's team after capturing the 60-meter dash with a time of six minutes and ninety-seven seconds. Van Wyk went on to earn a top-five finish in the 200-meter run finishing fourth with a time of 22.55.

Jaylun Wallace placed second in the 400-meter run after placing a time of 51.37 while Noah Brown (2:04.03), Logan Bullock (2:11.37), and Jace Cowman (2:26.05) placed third, fourth, and fifth respectively in the 800-meter run. Jim Headrick placed second in the mile run with a time of 4:40.89 while Brown went on to place third in the mile run with a time of 4:44.62 and third in the Distance Medley along with Victor Clark, Jordan Tucker, and Levi Owens with a time of 12:28.48. A team consisting of Justin Stearns, Marcus Abel, Nolan Foushee, and Michael Schonter placed just ahead of them in second in the Distance Medley with a time of 11:15.80.

Schonter got the second win of the day for the Blue Raiders after taking the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:47.78 while Stearns finished in second with a time of 2:49.61.

In the final track event of the day, Nick Cummins took third in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:02.27.

In the field events, Jelle Golbach earned the Blue Raiders their third win of the day after capturing the high jump with a jump of 1.90 meters. Rayne Jones-Foster (6.49 meters), Brenden Parham (6.39 meters), and Robert Dyer (5.84 meters) finished second, third, and fifth respectively in the long jump while Jones-Foster got the final win in the triple jump with a final leap of 13.58 meters.

Dominic Schroder placed fourth in the shot put competition with a throw of 12.62 meters.

As for the women, Jozlen Brisbon took fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.88 while also taking third in the 200-meter run with a time of 27.19.

Meredith Johnson (2:26.47), Olivia Rudder (2:30.79), Kirsten Crepps (2:47.08), Cady Schoeck (2:52.44), and Eliza Hagens (3:03.36) finished in a row of second through sixth in the 800-meter run while Kayla Roeder (3:33.41) finished fifth in the 1000-meter run.

Johnson went on to take third in the mile run with a time of 5:26.68 while Macey Wilson finished fourth with a time of 5:56.97. In the final track event of the day, Alyssa Sharp took fourth in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:27.12.

In the field events, Luna Senica finished second in the long jump with a jump of 5.36 meters while Malorie Carter took second in the weight throw competition with a distance of 13.21 meters.

The Blue Raiders will return to Louisville next Friday when they compete in the Tiger Paw Invite.
