Thilwind's Two National Standards Helps Men's Swimming to Win over Shawnee State

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team managed three NAIA National Provisional Standards, two from Will Thilwind, as they rolled to a 204-48 win over Shawnee State (Ohio.). Jose Angel Rivas added the Blue Raiders third national cut.

Thilwind, Rivas, Siaka Weidenbaum, and Max van Schagen teamed up for a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as the pair touched the wall in one minute and 37.72 seconds. The pairing of Tyler King, Chase Hickman, Reece Kincaid, and James de Goede later won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a mark of 1:29.87.

Thilwind managed his first provision mark during the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.17 seconds and later picked up his second during the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 1:58.44. Both we also good enough for first place.

Rivas claimed first place during the 100-yard breaststroke after touching the wall in 1:00.57. He later added his second first-place finish during the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:14.36. He then produced a provisional mark during the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.80 seconds.

Daniel Wytwer finished in first of the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:40.17 as Kincaid picked up his first-place finish during the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.41. Weidenbaum clocked a first-place finish during the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.49.

Schagen took first during the 50-yard freestyle at 22.05 seconds while De Goede added another first in the 100-yard freestyle at 49.25 seconds. Malte Ahrens took first during the 500-yard freestyle with his time of 5:05.90.

De Goede picked up his second first-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.91.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the pool on Oct. 21 when they host Asbury (Ky.) and Campbellsville (Ky.) at the Holloway Center Natatorium. The meet is set to start at 4 p.m. CT.
