Box Score DECATUR, Ala. – The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team's magical postseason run came to an emotional end on Saturday afternoon, as the Blue Raiders were defeated by the fourth-ranked University of Mobile (Ala.), 4-0, in the NAIA National Tournament semifinals.
The two squads played a scoreless first half, but the Rams opened things up in the second half with all four of their goals to seal the final result.
The loss ends the Blue Raiders' season at 13-6-4 overall, which includes 12 wins in their last 16 matches after starting the 2022 campaign at 1-5-2. Lindsey Wilson also concludes its latest run as the Mid-South Conference tournament champions for the 16th time in program history.
Anouar Adam finished the day with a team-high five shots, while fellow all-conference selection Alexander Koziolek and Pedro Maximiano paced the Blue Raiders with two shots on goal each.
All told, Lindsey Wilson and Mobile ended even in total shots with 19 apiece. However, the Rams maintained a strong edge in shots on goal, 14-6, and a slight advantage in corner kicks, 8-6, which ultimately led to their first goal of the match in the 50th minute.
Between the posts, Pablo Costa recorded nine saves to cap off an impressive postseason in which he closed with an 0.805 save percentage, 0.95 goals against average, and three shutouts in eight matches across the Mid-South and NAIA tournaments.
As a team, the Blue Raiders outscored their opponents 17-8 in these playoffs and now turn their attention to the offseason in preparation for another exceptional campaign of Lindsey Wilson soccer in 2023.
