INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Lindsey Wilson Indoor Track and Field teams traveled to Indianapolis on Saturday to compete in the Jerry England Invitational hosted by the University of Indianapolis. The Blue Raiders picked up 28 top-ten finishes in 17 events with both teams picking up two wins on the day.
In the track events for the men, Edwin Van Wyk got things started off in the 60-meter dash as he finished fourth with a time of six point ninety-nine seconds. Van Wyk then went on to claim his best finish of the day, second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.61.
Jaylun Wallace got the first win of the day for the men's side after he captured the 600-meter run with a time of 1:25.36 just beating his teammate Nolan Foushee who finished second with a time of 1:25.92. Noah Brown placed third in the event with a time of 1:28.40 while Marcus Abel wrapped up fifth with a time of 1:32.17.
In the relays, a group of Able, Brown, Victor Clark, Foushee claimed second in the 4x400 event with a time of 3:43.39.
In the field events, Austin Campbell got things started with a seventh-place finish in the shot-put competition with a throw of 14.68 meters. Campbell also went on to place 10th in the weight throw competition with a toss of 14.80 meters.
Jelle Golbach placed second in the high jump with a leap of 1.99 meters while Rayne Jones-Foster secured the second win of the day for the men after capturing the long jump with a jump of 6.89 meters. Justin Borden placed sixth in the same event with a jump of 6.45 meters ahead of Brenden Parham who placed seventh with a 6.35-meter leap and Robert Dyer who placed eighth jumping 6.34 meters. Both Jones-Foster (13.48 meters) and Dyer (12.42 meters) took part in the triple jump placing second and fourth respectively
As for the women, in the track events, Jozlen Brisbon won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.74, earning a "B" standard while Luna Senica took eighth with a time of 8.15. Kerryann Scott placed sixth in the 200-meter run with a time of 27.09 while Olivia Rudder placed sixth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:48.18 and Zoe Wilson placed ninth with a time of 1:53.55. Henriette Hawlas took 10th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:33.63 while Meredith Johnson placed fourth in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:28.75, earning a "B" standard.
In the field events, Hawlas finished fifth in the high jump with a jump of 1.57 meters while Senica earned the second win of the day for the women after capturing the long jump with a leap of 5.46 meters. Hawlas took seventh in the same event with a jump of 5.09 meters while Alina Hoberg placed eighth with a jump of 4.97 meters. Lastly, Malorie Carter placed 10th in the weight throw with a throw of 13.11 meters.
The Blue Raiders will return to action on February 18-19 when they travel to Louisville for the Mid-South Conference Indoor Conference Championships.
