PULASKI, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team put up 22 points in the final 10 minutes to defeat UT Southern 72-57 Monday evening. The Blue Raiders now advance to the quarterfinals in Bowling Green, Kentucky where they will face the overall seed and defending tournament champions Thomas More (Ky.) at 5:30 p.m. CT in the quarterfinals.

All five starters for the Blue Raiders hit double-digit points tonight as Hailey Ison led the team with 18 going six of 10 from the field. Amelia Hodges finished with 14 after going three of four from beyond the arc while Maleigha Oldham finished with 12. Sydnie Hall had 11 in the game while Bree Glover had 10 points and 11 rebounds for her fourth consecutive double-double.

Lindsey Wilson (15-14, 9-11 MSC) shot 56.5 percent from the field going 26 of 46 while shooting 35.3 percent from beyond the arc for six of 17 and nearly perfect from the free throw line at 14 of 16 for 87.5 percent.

Lindsey Wilson opened the contest after Hodges scored the Blue Raiders first points of the game with a three pointer from range. Layups from Oldham and Glover pushed the advantage to 7-2 after the first four minutes of play. Consecutive fouls from the visitors however allowed the hosts to make amends for their shaky start as the Firehawks knocked down four free throws and a following layup to take an 8-7 lead with 4:26 remaining in the first quarter. UT Southern got the rhythm going now as they jumped out to an eight-point lead at 20-9 after going on a 12-4 run to close the first quarter.

Lindsey Wilson trimmed the UT Southern lead to as few as a point over the second quarter as Hodges once again started the quarter with a three pointer to ignite the offense. A combination of free throws and layups from Ison and Stephens propelled the Blue Raiders into a comeback as they put away 18 points in the quarter. Two free throws from the hosts restored the lead at 32-29 as the two teams headed into the halftime locker room.

The Blue Raiders opened the second half immediately from the free throw line as Ison was fouled after the first 12 seconds out of the break. She knocked down both free throws to cut the lead back to within one at 32-31. The Firehawks responded with a three of their own, restoring a four-point gap. Lindsey Wilson retook the lead after a three from Hall and a layup from Glover made it 36-35. The Firehawks' leading scorer Faith Sherrow came up big for the hosts as she scored eight points in two minutes to restore the lead to the hosts. All Sherrow's efforts however were matched by Hall who made three triples from beyond the arc to keep Lindsey Wilson alive. Free throws from Oldham at the end of the quarter meant the Blue Raiders were only down by a point, 48-49 with 10 minutes remaining in the game.

Lindsey Wilson, who is 1-13 when trailing after three quarters, opened the final quarter of play with an 8-0 run to take a 56-49 lead. The visitors continued to take advantage of poor shooting from the hosts, growing their lead to as much as 11 with a minute left to play. The Blue Raiders held the Firehawks to only 10 points in the final 10 minutes, their lowest points total of the game as they concluded with their highest, 24 to win 72-57.

Lindsey Wilson advances to the final site in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and will face the overall seed and defending tournament champions Thomas More (Ky.) on Thursday in the quarterfinal match at 5:30 p.m. CT.
