Indoor Track and Field Competes At Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Lindsey Wilson Indoor Track and Field teams traveled to Anderson University on Saturday to compete in the Anderson University Indoor Invitational. The Blue Raiders picked up 43 top-ten finishes in 26 events with the women winning three events while the men won four.

In the track events for the men, Edwin Van Wyk got things started off in the 60-meter dash as he finished second with a time of seven point one seconds. Van Wyk then went on to claim third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.86 while Darius Willis placed 10th with a time of 23.45 in the same event.

Jaylun Wallace got the first win of the day for the men's side after he captured the 400-meter run with a time of 50.90 while K'ron Sherald placed fourth with a time of 52.76 in the same event. In the 800-meter run, Victor Clark took fifth place with a time of 2:06.28 while Logan Bullock crossed the line ninth with a time of 2:08.70.

Noah Brown took second place in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:41.12 while Marcus Abel placed fifth with a time of 2:55.07. In the 3000-meter run, Justin Stearns finished fifth with a time of 9:38.36 while in the mile run Jordan Tucker placed sixth with a time of 4:40.25 and Bullock finished in 10th with a time of 4:49.80. Levi Owens placed third in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:20.48 while Nick Cummins placed eighth with a time of 16:35.34.

The men's side got their next two wins of the day in both the 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays. In the 4x200-meter relay, a team of Brenden Parham, Jybari Springs, Darius Willis, and Van Wyk placed first with a time of 1:31.85 while a team of Parham, Sherald, David Johns, and Wallace won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:30.79.

In the field events, Austin Campbell got things started with a third-place finish in the weight throw competition with a measurement of 14.31 meters. Campbell got his best finish of the afternoon in the shot put competition after placing second with a throw of 15.24 meters. Dominic Schroeder placed ninth in the competition with a throw of 13.09 meters while Brandon Fields placed 10th with a throw of 12.48 meters.

In the triple jump, Robert Dyer took second place with a leap of 12.81 meters while placing third in the long jump with a jump of 6.17 meters. Justin Borden placed just behind Dyer with a jump of 6.08 meters. Jelle Golbach secured the final win of the day in the high jump with a leap of 1.92 meters while Borden placed second with a jump of 1.82 meters. Dyer placed fourth in the event with a leap of 1.72 meters and John Rowe placed fifth with a jump of 1.65 meters.

As for the women, in the track events, Jozlen Brisbon won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.72, earning an "A" standard while Kerryann Scott took fourth with a time of 7.98.

Olivia Rudder placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.30 while Kaylee Masden placed fourth with a time of 2:36.29 and Kirsten Crepps finished seventh with a time of 2:40.06. Meredith Johnson placed second in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:03.88, earning a "B" standard while in the 3000-meter run, Annabelle Walker placed sixth with a time of 11:43.74 and Macey Wilson finished seventh with a time of 11:55.64.

The women's team got their second win of the day after Alyssa Sharp took the 5000-meter run with a time of 19:59.30 while Masden (5:47.82) and Lotte Gertler (6:34.02) placed fifth and ninth respectively in the mile run. A team consisting of Johnson, Masden, Rudder, and Crepps earned the third win on the day after taking the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:30.23.

In the field events, Luna Senica finished second in the long jump with a jump of 5.51 meters, good enough for a "B" standard while Henriette Hawlas took fifth with a jump of 4.76 meters. Hawlas also placed fifth in the high jump with a jump of 1.52 meters and ninth in the shot put competition with a throw of 9.43 meters. Lastly, Malorie Carter placed seventh in the weight throw with a throw of 13.57 meters.

The Blue Raiders will return to action on February 12 when they travel to Indianapolis for the UIndy Gerry England Invite.
