Women's Track & Field Finish Third At Cumberlands Invite

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Henriette Hawlas of the Lindsey Wilson women's track and field team nearly swept the heptathlon competition this weekend creating a new school record in the process as the team finished 3rd with 79 total points in the Cumberlands Invite hosted by the University of the Cumberlands.

In the track events, Alexis Hale got things started as she placed sixth in the 400-meter run with a time of a minute and six seconds for three points while Olivia Rudder placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.31 for four points.

Rudder got her best finish of the day in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:05.75 for eight points while Meredith Johnson placed second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:43.89 for eight points and earned a "B" standard.

Macey Wilson placed fourth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 41:52.37 for five points while in the 400-meter hurdles, Johnson added six points for the team after finishing third with a time of 1:14.87.

Alyssa Sharp, Annabelle Walker, and Kaylee Masden all earned points in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the trio placed fourth, sixth, and seventh, respectively. Sharp earned five points with a time of 12:25.09 with Walker picking up three points at 13:06.38 and Masden two points at 13:25.30.

Cady Schoeck placed sixth in the 5,000-meter race walk with a time of 34:53.48 for three points while Kirsten Crepps placed eighth for a point with a time of 37:03.16.

In the relays, the Blue Raiders placed third in the 4,000-medley relay as a group of Wilson, Johnson, Rudder, and Masden earned six points with a time of 14:14.31.

In the field events, Alina Hoberg picked up five points in the long jump after placing fourth with a jump of 4.93 meters. Malorie Carter and Tori Kennedy wrapped up things in the field events after they earned top-five finishes in the hammer throw finishing third and fifth, respectively. Carter tossed for 37.58 meters for six points while Kennedy threw for 34.62 meters for four points.

Lastly, Hawlas won the heptathlon event after earning 4,514 points in the competition, a new program record. The sophomore nearly swept the competition after placing first in six of the seven events.

The Blue Raiders will continue their outdoor season on April 15 when they travel to Owensboro, Kentucky for the Brescia Bearcat Invite hosted by Brescia University.
