CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson Track and Field teams looked for one final attempt to qualify for the NAIA track and field national championships as they competed in the Last Chance Meet hosted by Lee University.
In the track events for the men, Edwin Van Wyk placed 15th in the 100-meter dash with a time of ten point eighty-four seconds while also placing 17th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.80. Jelle Golbach got a 13th-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles after placing a time of 16.13 while Marcus Abel placed 20th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.94.
In the 800-meter run, Nolan Foushee placed a time of 1:54.02 for a 37th place finish while Justin Stearns came across the line in 56th with a time of 1:59.99.
Stearns also placed 43rd in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:20.46 as Victor Clark placed ahead of him in 38th with a time of 4:05.68.
In the relays, a team of Brenden Parham, Van Wyk, Kaleb Hodges, and Darius Willis placed 11th in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.91.
In the field events, Justin Borden and Golbach placed eighth and ninth respectively in the high jump as both leaped for 1.95 meters. Borden also went on to place 22nd in the long jump with a jump of 6.74 meters. Lastly, Austin Campbell placed eighth in the shot put competition with a throw of 15.05 meters.
As for the women, in the track events, Henriette Hawlas finished 10th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.32 while also placing 27th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.22. Jozlen Brisbon also competed in the 200-meter dash finishing 15th with a time of 25.15.
Meredith Johnson finished 13th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.11 while also finishing 16th in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:44.75.
In the field events, Hawlas placed 11th in the javelin throw with a toss of 28.93 meters while also placing 13th in the long jump with a jump of 5.21 meters. Luna Senica picked up the only standard on the day after placing ninth in the long jump with a leap of 5.69 meters for an NAIA "B" standard.
The Blue Raiders now await the NAIA National Championship which takes place May 25-27 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
