Women's Track & Field Secures Fourth Place at MSC Championships; Halwas Named Athlete Of The Year

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's outdoor track & field team finished in fourth place at the Mid-South Conference Championships. The Blue Raiders rounded up 120 team points Life (Ga.) claimed the title with 213 points.

The Blue Raiders top score on day two of the competition came in the high jump as Mid-South Conference Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year Henriette Halwas won the competition with a leap of 1.64 meters for first-team all-conference honors, a national "B" standard, and 10 team points.

In the remaining field events, Tori Kennedy claimed a point after finishing eighth in the discus throw with a toss of 29.94 meters.

In other events around the track today, Cady Schoeck got things started with a fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meter race walk with a time of 33:59.91 earning five points. Kirsten Crepps finished just behind Schoeck in fifth with a time of 36:18.40 earning four points while Eliza Hagens placed sixth with a time of 36:42.08 earning three points.

Halwas placed fifth in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:00.18 earning four points while Luna Senica placed sixth with a time of 1:01.39 earning three points. Halwas also went on to place fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.28 for four points.

Meredith Johnson got back on the podium after earning second-team all-conference honors in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:43.90 for eight points while she also won third-team all-conference honors in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.90 for six points. Alexis Hale also gained points for the Blue Raiders in the event after her 1:15.11 earned her a seventh-place finish and two points. Johnson finished her day in the individual competitions with a sixth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:23.45 for three points.

Lastly, Jozlen Brisbon earned third-team all-conference honors in the 100-meter dash after her time of 11.98 earning her a national "B" standard and six points.

In the relays, a team of Kerryann Scott, Senica, Jordan Nelson, and Brisbon earned third-team all-conference honors in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 47.76 earning six points and earning a national "A" standard. In the final event of the afternoon, a team of Senica, Halwas, Hale, and Johnson placed fourth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:08.78 for five points.

The Blue Raiders secured nine total medals in the championship with Halwas and Johnson leading the team with three each. The team now awaits their placement in the NAIA Track & Field National Championships taking place May 25-27 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
