Halwas Earns Bronze On Day 2 of NAIA Track & Field National Championships

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's track and field teams continued competition at a very rain soaked NAIA National Championship on Thursday completing six events on the second day of competition.

After a great start in the heptathlon, Henriette Halwas finished third with 4,959 points after the final three events. She competed in the long jump, javelin throw, and 800-meter run earning All-American honors and six points for the Blue Raiders who currently sit tied for 15th after two days of competition.

Halwas finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.57 meters. She then placed ninth in the javelin throw with a toss of 30.61 meters before earning her best finish on the day winning the 800-meter dash crossing the finish line with a time of 2:22.26.

Elsewhere on the track, Meredith Johnson completed the 3,000-meter steeplechase trials early in the morning after it was postponed due to weather last night. Johnson came across the line in 20th with a time of 11:22.92 just missing out on qualification to the finals on Friday.

The Lindsey Wilson men's track and field team saw their first action of the day in the 400-meter run trials where Jaylun Wallace placed 25th with a time of 50.07 missing out on tomorrow's finals. In field events, Rayne Jones-Foster put together a 13th place finish in the long jump leaping for 7.06 meters.

The final event of the night saw Nolan Foushee, Brenden Parham, K'Ron Sherald, and Wallace take part in the 4x400 relay trials where they placed 19th with a time of 3:28.14 as they failed to make the cut for the finals tomorrow.

The final day of NAIA National Championship action begins tomorrow at 6 a.m. CT with the Blue Raiders first event of the day taking place at 11 a.m. CT in the women's long jump.
