Men's Soccer falls short in Season Opener

Box Score

LIMA, Ohio – Lindsey Wilson men's soccer fell short 4-1 in their season opener against (RV) Olivet Nazarene in a neutral site contest. The Blue Raiders and the Tigers were dead locked at one entering halftime but sluggish second half play hurt their winning effort.

Olivet Nazarene Max Jasper broke the game open with a goal in the second minute of the match. Lindsey Wilson eventually leveled the score later in the game after an unassisted goal by freshman Sadam Masereka. His strike in the 36th minute was his first of his Blue Raider career.

Moussa Gueye picked up a yellow card in the 30th minute before being given a red card just a minute later which proved to be too much for the Blue Raiders going into the second half.

The Tigers controlled the pace of play in the second half breaking the tie in the 48th minute before tacking on two security goals in the 61st and 85th minute.

Lindsey Wilson was outshot 17-7 including 10 shots on goal by the Tigers compared to LWC's three. Justin Eisenmann was the man of the match for Olivet Nazarene finishing the game with a goal and led the Tigers in assists with two.

The Blue Raiders next match is on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. CT against Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio.
