COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team led 2-1 late in the action but a final-minute goal by Georgia Gwinnett forced the 2-2 draw after 90 minutes. Alicia Thoresen provided both Blue Raider goals, but her effort was not enough to propel LWC to their first win.

Lindsey Wilson overcame a sluggish opening half to outshoot the Grizzlies 15-8 including 8-6 in shots on goal. The Grizzlies peppered the Blue Raiders with shots over the opening 20 minutes as three found their way on target. Maya Caon finished the night with four saves.

Georgia Gwinnett struck first in the contest in the 19th minute when they were able to push home their third shot on goal to that point. Saga Andersson broke down the end line and was able to sneak one near post and into the back of the goal past a sprawling Caon. The lead held until the 63rd minute.

Alicia Thoresen leveled the score Midway through the second half off a corner kick. Minni Laukka sent a ball into the box that deflected off Tracy Jones and eventually found the head of Alicia Thoresen for the score.

Just seven minutes later, Alicia Thoresen once again managed to find the back of the goal. Younger sister and Lindsey Wilson freshman Irma Thoresen played one off which Alicia Thoresen struck from 35-yards out. The ball curved towards the left post and into the goal past a diving keeper.

Georgia Gwinnett leveled the score in the 89th minute when Miranda Robinson played a ball from midfield, which found Bre Harvey in the penalty area. Harvey was able to finish despite three Blue Raider defenders surrounding her.

The contest ended after 90 minutes of play due to new NAIA soccer rules eliminating extra time during the regular season.

Lindsey Wilson is back on the pitch this Sunday when they compete against No. 12 Oklahoma Wesleyan at 10 a.m. CT on the road.
