Box Score 1 COLUMBIA Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team (0-3-2) manages to battle No. 11-ranked Indiana Wesleyan (7-0-1) to a 1-1 tie Saturday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
Early on in the first half, the Wildcats lived in Blue Raider territory as they applied constant pressure forcing Maya Caon and the LWC defense to defend three corner kicks in just 15 minutes of play. Indiana Wesleyan took a total of 15 shots compared to Lindsey Wilson's one in the first half and had a 9-1 corner kick advantage as well.
Things started to turn around in favor of the Blue Raiders going into the second half after a controlling first half from the Wildcats' offense. In the 62nd minute, Alicia Thoresen was able to work through the middle of Indiana Wesleyan's defense and advance the ball to Emma Lindell, who then found Silvia Marchesi on a crossing pass for the left foot finish. The score was Marchesi's first goal of the season and Hope Stacker's first goal allowed this year.
The Wildcats didn't let down easily after the goal by Lindsey Wilson as their aggressiveness on offense played a factor late in the 84th minute. A corner kick by Mallory Krueger finds the head of Lauren Turner inside the goal for the Wildcats that tied the match 1-1.
Despite Indiana Wesleyan's offensive dominance in all offensive categories having more shots on goal and corner opportunities, the Blue Raiders out played the Wildcats on the defensive end with five saves from Caon.
The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team will return to the pitch, when they open up conference play on the road against No. 7 Tennessee Southern on Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. CT.
